Not only do they seek out alternative sources such as, FSC certified woods and recycled fabrics, they find creative ways to upcycle* things like Ethernet cables, automotive seat-belts and 100% recycled plastic waste. One of my favorite designers of Eco-Modern is Peter Danko who takes upcycling* to the next level and creates clean lined modern frames for the true green urban dweller. "The furniture we design is largely Ply-bent, a relatively new medium whose aesthetics have been explored by a mere handful of designers. Ply-bent furniture is the perfect sustainable material because veneer yields 8-10 times more usable wood from a log than solid lumber. Our furniture is made using non-toxic water based adhesives, and we use recycled materials for seat suspension and padding." ~ Peter Danko

I am reporting daily on my Blog, from a distance unfortunately, on the International Furniture Fair in Milan, held this week and designers are now really conscious about the Earth (and the economy). Great Post, very informative.
